Dr. Xie received both his medical degree and his Master of Science degree in medical science from the Hunan Medical University in Changsha, China, where he was also an attending physician and assistant professor in the Second Teaching Hospital before relocating to the United States for his postgraduate training.
Dr. Xie then served as a visiting physician in pediatrics and pharmacology at the Yale University School of Medicine. He went on to complete a three-year postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacology at the Weill Cornell College of Cornell University, where he subsequently spent three years as a research scientist. He later completed a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, followed by a gastrointestinal and liver pathology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
Following his medical education, Dr. Xie worked as a staff pathologist at Centrex Clinical Laboratories and as a gastrointestinal pathologist at Pathology Laboratories, Inc. prior to joining Pathology Solutions in 2011, where he has served since.
Dr. Xie belongs to the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He holds full medical licensure in New Jersey. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Xie authored and coauthored abstracts and articles that have been widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
